Policy

Priority of investigation and allocation of resources must be based upon the relative seriousness and solvability of each reported crime. Reported crimes will be investigated to the fullest extent possible without regard to the status of the victims or the areas of the City in which the crime occurs.

  • Investigation: A structured process of gathering, examining, and evaluating facts and evidence to determine what occurred, assess compliance with laws and policies, and support appropriate actions or decisions.
